Unlike the aggressive accent adopted during a sharp noise with Donald Trump at the White House, Ukrainian President Valodimir Jailonsky said on Saturday that American support in the war with Russia is important. He also said that he was ready to sign the Mineral Agreement with the US in lieu of Ukraine for safety guarantee.
Jailonsky thanked Trump a day after a fierce debate during a press conference at the Oval Office (US President’s office), thanked the Parliament and the public for US assistance in the Russia war. The Ukrainian President said, ‘We are very grateful to the United States for all support. I am grateful to the Congress and the people there for supporting Ukraine by rising above the party line. The people of Ukraine have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of the Russian invasion.

Emphasizing the need for American cooperation against Russian aggression, Jailonsky clearly stated that President Trump’s support for Ukraine’s defense efforts would be decisive in shaping the direction of war. He wrote, ‘It is important for us to get the support of President Trump. He wants to end the war, but does not want any peace than us. We are living this war in Ukraine. This is our freedom, a fight for our existence.
In addition, Gelnsky said that Ukraine is ready to sign the Mineral Agreement, which is expected to strengthen the economic and defense relations between Kiev and Washington. However, he reiterated that such agreements alone are not enough. He wrote on X, ‘We are ready to sign the mineral agreement, and this will be the first step towards the safety guarantee. But this is not enough, and we need more than this. The ceasefire is dangerous for the ceasefire Ukraine without safety guarantee. We have been fighting for 3 years, and America should assure Ukraine that it is on our side.

Why did a sharp debate between Trump-Jalensky?
A much awaited meeting between Jailonski and Trump ended in a controversial manner in front of the World Media at the White House on 28 February. Jailonsky hoped that the Oval Office discussion would strengthen American support for Ukraine. Instead, there was a dramatic turn in the meeting. President Donald Trump, along with US Vice President JD Vance, severely criticized Jailonski and accused him of showing disrespect towards the US. The conflict increased to such an extent that the Ukrainian President was allegedly asked to leave the White House and left without having dinner.
