In the year 2019, Devendra Fadnavis was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for only 80 hours. The opposition had taunted him a lot on this. Responding to these taunts, Fadnavis had said in the Assembly on 1 December 2019. ‘Don’t build a house on my shore after seeing my water receding, I am the ocean and will definitely come back…’ After almost 5 years, that poetic style of Fadnavis is going to turn into reality today. Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis will take oath as Chief Minister for the third time at Azad Maidan in Mumbai today at 5.30 pm.
Today only the Chief Minister and two Deputy CMs will take oath. NCP’s Ajit Pawar is sure to become Deputy CM. There is talk of Eknath Shinde also becoming Deputy CM. However, it is not yet clear whether he will become Deputy CM or not. It is being told that Shinde is demanding the post of Deputy CM as well as Home Ministry. He has made it clear that if the Home Ministry is not given, he will not join the government.
To convince him, Fadnavis held a discussion for 40 minutes at his residence ‘Varsha’ on Wednesday. Fadnavis has assured them that he will discuss their demand with the BJP high command. However, it is being told that the ministry has been divided between the three parties of the Grand Alliance – BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP. It is being said that the Home Ministry will remain with BJP. It is being told that BJP may get 21-22 departments, Shiv Sena may get 12 and NCP may get 9-10 departments.
After staking claim to form the government in front of Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday, Fadnavis said, I had met Eknath Shinde and told him that Mahayuti workers wish that he should be with us in this government. I have full confidence that he will stay with us. We will fulfill the promises made to the public.
Kept celebrating Shinde all day long
Today the government is being formed in Maharashtra, but the picture regarding Shinde is not yet clear. There was constant lobbying throughout the day for him to join the government and take over the post of Deputy CM. Party MLAs say that they have been meeting Shinde since day and are convincing him to be a part of the new government.
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLA Bharat Gogavale said that we requested him to be a part of the new government, because it will help both the government and the party. A party leader said that all the MLAs and MPs want Eknath Shinde to join the new government.
However, Shinde does not seem very happy with getting the post of Deputy CM. Even on Wednesday, when he was asked in the press conference whether he and Ajit Pawar would take oath as Deputy CM? To this Shinde had replied, ‘Wait till the evening. The oath ceremony is tomorrow.
Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant had said, Shinde should become Deputy CM and this is the wish of Shiv Sainiks, MLAs and MPs.
This time the invitation card is something special
The invitation card prepared for the swearing-in ceremony is special. The name of the new Chief Minister is written in the card as ‘Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis’. Sarita is the name of his mother and Gangadhar is the name of his father.
This time Fadnavis had written ‘Devendra Gangadhar Fadnavis’ in the affidavit filed for the elections. When Fadnavis took oath as Chief Minister in 2014 and 2019, his mother’s name was not mentioned in the invitation card of that ceremony.
More than 40 thousand people will be present in the swearing in
The swearing in of the new government is to take place at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. BJP leader Prasad Lad said that more than 42 thousand people will be present in this program. He told that Prime Minister Modi, 9-10 Union Ministers, 19 Chief Ministers and Deputy CMs will also participate in it.
He said that special arrangements have been made for 40 thousand BJP supporters. Separate seating arrangements have been made for two thousand VVIPs. Many religious leaders will also be present in this program.
Fadnavis will become Chief Minister for the third time
Fadnavis, MLA from Nagpur South-West seat, is going to become the Chief Minister for the third time. Fadnavis became the Chief Minister for the first time after the 2014 elections. Fadnavis was the first Chief Minister of BJP in Maharashtra. In 2019, he took oath as Chief Minister for the second time. However, he had to resign after three days. Now Fadnavis is going to become the Chief Minister for the third time.
Fadnavis became a councilor at the age of 22. He was the youngest councilor in the country. In 1997, he became the youngest mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. In 1999, he was elected MLA for the first time from Nagpur West seat. After this, he became MLA for the sixth consecutive time in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024.
There is such a security system
Tight security arrangements have also been made for the swearing-in ceremony. An officer said that more than 4 thousand policemen have been deployed. 3,500 policemen and 520 officers have been deployed for security arrangements.
He said that a platoon of State Reserve Police Force, Quick Response Team, Riot Control Team, Delta, Combat Team and Bomb Squad have also been deployed.
