How Amit Shah’s incomplete video clip heated up politics over Ambedkar – Amit Shah Video On BR Ambedkar In Lok Sabha Congress Shares Half Video Clip NTC
It rarely happens in politics that leaders of both the government and the opposition not only come face to face, accusing the same great man of insulting him – but the matter even escalates to a scuffle and two MPs have to be taken to the hospital. The same thing happened on 19 December during the winter session of Parliament. There was such a clash between the government and opposition leaders over the alleged insult to Bhimrao Ambedkar that two BJP leaders were injured and had to be taken to the hospital.
The special thing is that to add fuel to this fire, incomplete videos of two leaders were used extensively. These two leaders are Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
How did the controversy over Ambedkar start?
The controversy started after a speech by Amit Shah two days ago i.e. on 17th December. Speaking during the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah was talking about Ambedkar’s resignation from Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet. His speech focused on the fact that Congress people are trying to capitalize on Ambedkar’s name but during his lifetime, Congress leaders did not give him the respect he deserved.
What did Amit Shah actually say?
about one and a half hours speech Around 1 hour 7 minutes in, Amit Shah said, “Now it has become a fashion… Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. If you had taken God’s name that much, you would have gone to heaven for seven births.” Continuing his attack on the Congress party, he said, “We are happy to take the name of Ambedkar. Take Ambedkar’s name a hundred times more. But let me tell you what is your feeling towards Ambedkar ji. Why did Ambedkar ji resign from the country’s first cabinet?
The Home Minister further said, “He (Ambedkar) said many times that he was dissatisfied with the treatment of Scheduled Castes and Tribes. He had expressed disagreement with the foreign policy of the government, did not even agree with Article 370. Assurance to Ambedkar “Which was not fulfilled, hence he resigned from the cabinet.”
Amit Shah did not stop here, he also read a statement of Jawaharlal Nehru regarding Ambedkar’s resignation. He said, “Shri BC Roy wrote a letter that what would happen if two great men like Ambedkar and Rajaji leave the cabinet, then Nehru ji wrote in reply to him – Rajaji’s departure will cause a little loss, Ambedkar’s departure will not weaken the cabinet. It happens.” Amit Shah’s full speech Here Can be heard.
How did the opposition make Shah’s few words an issue?
But the opposition raised an issue by raising just two lines from Amit Shah’s long speech in which he had said that chanting Ambedkar’s name has become fashionable. Just a 12-second portion of his speech was taken out and shared extensively on social media. By sharing this short clip, all the leaders and spokespersons of Congress and India Alliance accused Amit Shah and BJP of insulting Ambedkar and started demanding Shah’s resignation. Cracks had started appearing in the India alliance, suddenly they found an issue to come together.
PM defended Amit Shah
When the controversy gained momentum, many BJP spokespersons shared the entire statement of Amit Shah and said that his video has been edited to spread confusion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself wrote a thread of six tweets in which he accused the Congress of lying and said that the Congress party cannot hide its insult to Ambedkar for years by lying.
PM Modi also uploaded the entire part of Amit Shah’s incomplete video and wrote that Amit Shah has exposed the dark history of Congress of insulting Ambedkar and ignoring the SC-ST community.
Amit Shah himself gave clarification in a press conference and said that he cannot insult Ambedkar even in his dreams. Accusing the Congress of insulting Ambedkar, Shah said, “Congress has once again made a malicious attempt to spread confusion in the society by adopting its old method, distorting things and dressing the truth in falsehood. During the discussion in Parliament, it was proved how Congress had strongly opposed Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Even after Baba Saheb’s absence, how Congress tried to marginalize him.”
Amit Shah said, “I have always followed the path of Ambedkar. I request that my complete statement be shown. Congress has spread lies.”
Scuffle in Parliament and controversy over Rahul Gandhi
Despite Amit Shah’s clarification and BJP spokespersons sharing the entire portion of Shah’s statement, Congress’ opposition to Amit Shah continued on 19 December. Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out at the Parliament gate when NDA and opposition leaders came face to face, accusing each other of insulting Ambedkar.
Then news came that two BJP MPs, Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, had been injured in the scuffle. Both were later taken to the hospital. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was accused of scuffling with the MPs and Sarangi said that he got hurt because of Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, another video started going viral on social media which was also shared by many BJP leaders. This Video There was a statement by Rahul Gandhi. After showing this video, some people started saying that Rahul Gandhi himself has admitted to pushing BJP MP Pratap Sarangi.
But watching the entire video shows that Rahul is actually accusing BJP MPs of manhandling him and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. But it doesn’t matter to them.
