26/11 26/11 The way has been cleared to extradited Tehwwur Rana, accused of Mumbai terror attack. The Supreme Court of America has rejected Rana’s application, in which he demanded a ban on his extradition. This decision came up through a notice published on the Supreme Court website on Monday.
64 -year -old Tehwavur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. She is currently closed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. On February 27, Rana filed an ’emergency petition’ in front of the Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan, seeking a ban on extradition until the hearing of the Habius Corpus petition “.
However, last month, Justice Kagan dismissed Rana’s petition. After this, Rana re -presented his petition and demanded that it be sent before Chief Justice John Roberts. On this, the Supreme Court listed Rana’s petition for the ‘Conference’ of April 4, 2025 and decided to present it before the court.
The notice published on the US website on Monday said, “The application has been rejected by the court.” After this decision, now Rana has a very limited legal option in America and the process of extradition of India can be carried forward.
Significantly, Tahwwur Rana is one of the conspirators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. According to Indian agencies, Rana had helped Pakistani terrorist David Coleman Headley to carry out terrorist activities in India. Headley is already serving a sentence in America and confirmed Rana’s role in the investigation.
India had been demanding Rana’s extradition for a long time, and now after this decision of the US Supreme Court, this process has reached the final stage. This is a major success for Indian investigative agencies.
