India built a new stealth missile frigate INS Tushil in Russia. This deal of 2.5 billion dollars (more than Rs 21 thousand crore) was done in 2016. There was no war between Ukraine and Russia then. Russia is building four stealth frigates for the Indian Navy. In this deal, two warships were to be built in Russia. Two are being built in India.
INS Tushil and Tamal are being built in Russia. Tamal will also join the Indian Navy next year. Tushil is an upgraded Krivak 3 class missile frigate. It is being built under Project 1135.6. 26 percent of this warship is indigenous. But its primary engines are made by Ukraine.

Despite the war, Ukrainian company Zorya-Mashproekt built gas turbines for Tushil and Tamal. Sent them to Russia. This company is the world’s number one gas turbine manufacturing company. What actually happened was that India itself had procured these engines from Ukraine and delivered them to Russia.
Where will Tushil join the Navy?
INS Tushil will join the Western Fleet of the Navy after coming to India. That means there will be deployment in the Arabian Sea. It will be counted as one of the best modern frigates in the world. From the Indian side, companies like BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Keltron, Tata’s Nova Integrated Systems, Elcom Marine and Johnson Controls India were involved in making it.
Tushil is equipped with BrahMos missiles
IAS Tushil is equipped with supersonic cruise missile BrahMos. Apart from this, many new Indian and Russian technologies have been installed in it. Tushil means impenetrable Kavacham. That means protector shield. Its motto is – fearless, impenetrable and strong. It shows the strength and maritime prowess of the Indian Navy.

Know the power of this warship
The sea displacement of INS Tushil is 3850 tonnes. Its length is 409.5 feet, beam is 49.10 feet and draft is 13.9 feet. It can run at a maximum speed of 59 km/hr in the sea. If the speed is increased to 26 km/hr then it can cover a range of 4850 km. If you travel at a speed of 56 km/hr, you can go up to 2600 km.
Can stay in the sea for 30 days
This warship can remain deployed at sea for 30 days carrying 180 soldiers including 18 officers. After that supplies and fuel have to be loaded into it. These warships are equipped with electronic warfare systems. Also, 4 KT-216 decoy launchers are installed. 24 Shtil-1 medium range missiles are deployed in it.

8 Igla-1E, 8 vertical launch anti-ship missile clubs, 8 vertical launch anti-ship and land attack BrahMos missiles are also deployed. It is fitted with a 100 mm A-190E naval gun. Apart from this, a 76 mm Otto Melara naval gun is installed. 2 AK-630 CIWS and 2 Kashtan CIWS guns are installed.
Apart from these dangerous guns, there are two 533 mm torpedo tubes. A rocket launcher has also been deployed. This warship can be equipped with a Kamov-28 or a Kamov-31 or Dhruv helicopter.
