Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will start from March 23. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajiv Shukla gave this information on Sunday. While talking to the media, Shukla told that the 18th edition of the tournament will start from March 23 while the final match will be played on May 25. However, an official announcement in this regard is still pending.

New Treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia and Secretary Satyajit Saikia were elected unopposed in the BCCI SGM (Special General Meeting) held today. Both these posts were lying vacant after the resignation of Jai Shah and Ashish Shelar. Saikia and Bhatia were elected unopposed as they were the only candidates to file nominations for these vacant posts. Clarity on the venue of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has almost been decided in the meeting. IPL 2024 started on March 22 when the opening match was played between RCB and CSK. The final took place on 26 May, in which KKR won the trophy.
When will the Champions Trophy squad be announced?
The next meeting to be held on January 18-19 will focus on finalizing the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The selectors on Saturday announced the Indian team for the five-match T20 International series against England. The squad has not been announced for the three-match ODI series to be played after the T20 and the Champions Trophy starting on February 19. India will play its first match of the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh on 20 February. India will play all its matches in Dubai under the hybrid model while the matches of other teams will be played in the host country Pakistan.

Money was spent in IPL mega auction

The mega auction held at the end of last year was dominated by two players. India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history after being sold for Rs 27 crore, followed by Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 23.75 crore). After the final list of 574 players was revealed, many teams had made big bids for high-profile players. Meanwhile, players like David Warner, Prithvi Shaw and Shardul Thakur remained unsold.
