New Delhi: Five -time champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday announced the contracting of Afghanistan’s off -spinner Mujib ur Rehman. Mujib will replace his own country spinner Allah Ghaznafar who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. Afghanistan’s 18 -year -old spinner has been fractured in L4 vertebra and will not be able to play in the Champions Trophy.

Gajanfar was hurt recently

Gajanfar was hurt during Afghanistan’s recent Zimbabwe visit. Mumbai Indians said in a statement, “Mumbai Indians wishes Gajanfar to get well soon and welcome Mujib to our family.” Mujib was one of the youngest players representing Afghanistan and had immediate impact, which gave him a chance to debut in IPL at the age of 17.

Mujib’s career is fantastic

Mujib has played more than 300 T20 (international and domestic) matches in which he has taken 330 wickets at an economy rate of about 6.5. Mumbai Indians bought 18 -year -old off -spinner Gajanfar in the IPL mega auction for Rs 4.80 crore, emerging in a large IPL auction. Ghaznafar exit is a major setback for Mumbai Indians as well as Afghanistan team.
