Flipkart’s fashion based website Myntra has become the victim of a scam. The company has suffered a loss of several crores of rupees due to the refund scam. If reports are to be believed, fraudsters have cheated the platform by taking advantage of the company’s return policy. This entire scam has been exposed in the audit of the company.
Actually, scammers used to place big orders, whose value used to be very high. Frauds used to order items like branded shoes, clothes and accessories in bulk. As soon as the order was delivered, the fraudsters would lodge a fake complaint.
They take refund by making fake complaint
These complaints used to be regarding shortage of ordered goods, delivery of wrong items or non-delivery. Myntra gives its customers an opportunity to complain and claim refund. In this, options like less items being delivered, color mismatch or receiving wrong items are available.

After receiving the complaint, the e-commerce platform starts the refund process. According to the report, the company has suffered a loss of Rs 50 crore due to such scams in different areas across the country. In Bengaluru alone, the company has identified 5529 fake orders, due to which it has suffered losses.
Explaining about this scam, the police said that suppose a person places an order for 10 branded shoes. If after receiving the parcel he claims that he has received only five shoes, he can claim a refund for the other five shoes.
Meesho has also become a victim of fraud
According to TOI report, such a gang is doing fraud in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Almost all the fraud orders have been placed from Jaipur. Fraudsters had given delivery addresses in Bengaluru and other metros. Some of these orders were delivered to tea shops, tailor shops or stationery stores.

Another such case came to light a few days ago. Police had arrested three accused in this case from Surat, Gujarat. In this case, the thugs had made Meesho a victim. The company was defrauded to the tune of Rs 5.5 crore through ‘order and return’.
