There is a stir in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh due to the case of a woman’s dead body being found in the fridge. The live-in relationship partner strangled his girlfriend to death and then left her body in the fridge. This was revealed after 10 months due to foul smell. But the surprising thing is that a tenant was living in other rooms of the same house for 5 months. He did not even realize that the woman’s dead body was hidden in the house.
This is the case of Vrindavandham Colony of Dewas city. Dharmendra Srivastava has a house number 128 in this colony built on Bhopal Road and he himself lives in Indore.
In July 2023, Srivastava had given this house on rent to Sanjay Patidar, a resident of Ujjain district. Sanjay lived in a live-in relationship with his girlfriend Pratibha alias Pinky Prajapati. However, he used to call Pratibha as his wife among the landlord and the people around him.
When Pratibha, who was in a live-in relationship for about five years, put pressure on him for marriage, Sanjay committed a horrific crime. As part of the conspiracy, Sanjay, along with his friend Vinod Dave, strangled Pratibha and after the murder, tied her hands and legs and packed the body in the fridge.
After this, she slowly started telling her acquaintances and neighbors that since her mother had an attack, Pratibha has now gone to the village. We will vacate this house in a few days.

Accused Sanjay Patidar also told landlord Dharmendra Srivastava that he was going to his village and vacating the house. He will come and take the remaining items in a few days. A fridge was also included in this item. Sanjay had left the fridge running in a room and it was locked. Meaning, Sanjay vacated the house in June 2024. But he kept paying the rent for two rooms online only.
On the other hand, seeing the vacant house, landlord Dharmendra Srivastava, living in Indore, found another tenant and put his house on rent.
The new tenant Balveer Singh continued to live in other rooms and halls of this house for the last five months. Meanwhile, he called the landlord and said that he was running out of space, so he also needed the two rooms of the house that were locked, to be unlocked.
Last Wednesday itself, landlord Dharmendra Srivastava asked the new tenant to open the rooms by breaking the locks installed by Sanjay. The new tenant Balveer broke the lock, opened the gates and cleaned the dirty rooms. The refrigerator of old tenant Sanjay Patidar was also kept in one room and was wrapped in a cloth. Balveer did not touch the fridge. However, while installing the door, the electricity switch was turned off.
When the electricity was switched off the next day i.e. on Thursday, it was noticed that a strange smell was spreading in the entire colony including the house. While detecting the foul smell, the new tenant moved towards the room containing the refrigerator and saw that there was blood spread. After this he informed the landlord and the police. When the police opened the fridge, they found the woman’s body inside. The deceased woman was identified as Pratibha alias Pinky (30 years). Police expressed suspicion that this murder might have been carried out in March 2024.
Sanjay comes to the house occasionally
Dewas district police captain Puneet Gehlad said that Sanjay Patidar of Maulana village of Ujjain was living in the house of Dhirendra Srivastava with his live-in partner Pratibha alias Pinky Prajapati since July 2023. Sanjay vacated the house in June 2024, but did not vacate the two rooms of the house. He was transferring the rent online to the landlord living in Indore. Sanjay Patidar used to visit the house occasionally. The new tenant Balveer Singh was living in other rooms and halls of the same house for 5 months. It was only when there was shortage of space that he requested the landlord to open the two closed rooms.
Already married Sanjay Patidar
Accused Sanjay Patidar was already married. His wife and daughter live in Ujjain. The daughter is going to get married in the coming month of February. At the same time, after keeping Pratibha in Ujjain for three years, Sanjay brought her to Dewas two years ago. From January 2024, Pratibha started pressurizing him for marriage, due to this he murdered Pratibha.
Committed the crime along with a friend
Accused Sanjay Patidar told during police interrogation that he planned the murder of his live-in partner Pratibha along with his friend Vinod Dave, a resident of England. In March 2024, Pratibha was strangled and the body was put in the refrigerator. The fridge was covered with a cloth, the items were stored and the room was locked.
Friend is lodged in Rajasthan jail
According to the police, a case of fraud was registered against Vinod Dave, a friend of the main accused Sanjay Patidar, in Tonk, Rajasthan, in which case he is currently lodged in the jail of Rajasthan. The police there are being contacted. At the same time, Sanjay will be taken on remand and interrogated. Whereas not much information is yet available about the deceased woman.
