Actor Shefali Shah recently took to Instagram to share her inspiring story of embarking on a solo trip to Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, after her family backed out of their planned vacation. Posting a picture of herself rafting on the Ganges, Shefali candidly recounted her struggle with mom guilt, self-doubt, and middle-class upbringing before deciding to take the trip alone.

Planned Family Trip Ends with Last-Minute Cancellations
Shefali revealed that the trip was originally planned for her family of four, but aligning schedules proved challenging. After days of effort, her son, husband, and other son decided they’d rather stay home. “They just wanted to chill at home,” she wrote. Disappointed yet determined, Shefali decided to turn the situation around and take the trip solo.
Embracing the Dilemmas of Solo Travel
Acknowledging the guilt and dilemmas that come with solo travel, Shefali wrote about her internal conflicts. “This Mother India wants to let go of endless waiting and go to a place in the lap of nature, surrounded by a gurgling river, wrapped in the warmth of a blanket after a relaxing massage, accompanied by a book some wine,” she shared .
The Darlings The actor highlighted the joy of reclaiming moments for herself, despite battling societal expectations and personal inhibitions. Her post resonated with fans and fellow actors alike. Tillotama Shome commented, “PERFECT and am so glad you did this.”
