Hasina said Yunus was leading an “undemocratic group” that had no responsibility towards the people. Hasina called Yunus a “fascist” and alleged that the main objective of the government led by him was to suppress the spirit of liberation struggle and pro-liberation forces.

Hasina, who fled to India after resigning as prime minister amid massive anti-government protests in August, said in a statement in Bengali that “anti-national groups” had unconstitutionally seized power. He said, “This undemocratic group led by fascist Yunus has no responsibility towards the people. They are capturing power and obstructing all public welfare works.”

Hasina criticized the Yunus government and said that the people of Bangladesh are troubled by the increase in prices. Hasina said, “Since this government has not been democratically elected, they have no accountability towards the people. Their main objective is to suppress the spirit of the liberation struggle and pro-liberation forces and suppress their voice. On the contrary, they The lack of sensitivity towards the liberation struggle and its history reflects the intentions of the leaders of this government, including the fascist Yunus, who are secretly supporting the anti-independence fundamentalist communal forces.

Minorities are being attacked in Bangladesh

The Awami League leader has been living in India since leaving Bangladesh. Relations between India and Bangladesh have become tense after the formation of the interim government led by Yunus. India has been expressing concern about attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, in that country. In the last few months, there has been a spate of attacks on minorities, including the Hindu community, in Bangladesh. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Dhaka last week and apprised the country of India’s concerns, especially regarding the security and welfare of minorities.

“There is no reason why this mutually beneficial cooperation should not continue in the interest of the peoples of our two countries. And, to that end, I have today agreed to work closely with the interim government of Bangladesh,” Misri told reporters in Dhaka. “Also, we had the opportunity to discuss some recent developments and issues and I expressed my concerns, including those related to the safety and welfare of minorities.”
