The memorable flick Page 3 (2005) completed 20 years on January 21. The film has several characters and the track of the protagonist Madhavi Sharma, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, is very memorable. She is shown attending parties to earn a living though she aspires to do meaningful journalism. On the other hand, she’s having feelings for an aspiring actor. One day, she gets the shock of her life as she catches the actor getting intimate with a gay make-up artist, who’s also her friend. Shockingly, two years later, she appeared in Anurag Basu’s Life In A Metro (2007) which had a similar scene – she walks into the room of her love interest only to find him in a compromising position with another male.

During the 20th anniversary of Page 3, Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with its director Madhur Bhandarkar and asked him if he found any similarities between the two scenes. The presence of Konkona in both scenes further added to the parallels.
Madhur said, “I agree with you. In fact, I asked Konkona about it one day. I was like, ‘Konkona, how can you do the same scene?’ Even the camera movements were similar! And it’s not like Page 3 was released 20 years ago. It was a two-year-old film by the time Life In A Metro was released. Also, Page 3 was not a film which no one knew when it came and when it sangSome filmmakers tend to copy from an unknown film but that doesn’t apply to Page 3,
Madhur Bhandarkar continued, “So when I asked Konkona about it, she said, ‘I told Basu that I have done such a scene before too.But he wanted the scene to be exactly the way (it was in Page 3He insisted,I want you like this.,
Page 3 was the first time Konkona Sen Sharma and Madhur Bhandarkar. Both later also collaborated on Traffic Signal (2007), which, was incidentally released in the same year as Life In A Metro.
