Two people were arrested in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and 700 grams of heroin worth more than Rs 1.4 crore was recovered from them. A senior police officer gave this information. Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh told reporters that the arrests were made as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics operation.

Suspects Anil Singh and Ripunjay Tiwari were arrested near Hanuman Temple located at Bari Dam of Chakia in Dubhar police station area. He said that Singh was allegedly found with 400 grams of heroin, while Tiwari had 300 grams of heroin. Both are residents of Bairiya police station area of ​​the district and have criminal history.

Both the accused have gone to jail in the murder case

According to Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh, Anil Singh had earlier been jailed in a murder case in Shahjahanpur district in 2011. During his stay in jail, he came in contact with a drug smuggler from Ranchi, Jharkhand. After getting bail, Singh got involved in drug trafficking through this relationship.

Ripunjay Tiwari, on the other hand, was convicted in a murder case in 2007 and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Police have registered a case against both of them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case is being investigated. Strict action will be taken after investigation.
