Congress said that not getting a suitable place for Manmohan Singh’s funeral and memorial is a deliberate insult to the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister. Congress raised the issue when the Union Home Ministry said in a statement that Manmohan Singh’s last rites will be performed with full state honors on Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi at 11:45 am.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that party President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to perform the last rites of Manmohan Singh at a place where a memorial can be built to honor his legacy.
