In Karnataka’s Mysore jail, three prisoners died after drinking cake-making food essence, a police officer informed about this incident. Madesh, a resident of Satagahalli, died in jail on Tuesday night due to drinking essence, while Nagaraj and Ramesh, residents of Chamarajanagar, died on Wednesday.

According to the news agency, all three had consumed essence on December 28, after which their health deteriorated. Seeing his deteriorating condition, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment, where he died.

Sources said that the essence was brought to make the cake on the occasion of New Year. These three people working in the bakery department probably drank it as an intoxicant, due to which their condition worsened and they died during treatment.
