Once again Uttar Pradesh Police has created history for its bravery. 17 brave men of UP Police have received the President’s Gallantry Medal, the biggest award for bravery in the police force and paramilitary forces. Uttar Pradesh has received the most medals among the police forces of any state. The highest name among those who received medals is that of the team that encountered Billu Dujana and Rakesh Dujana of Anil Dujana gang in Ghaziabad, 7 members of which have been given the President’s Bravery Medal.
How did these brave men of UP Police kill the miscreants?
On April 20, 2022, Jitendra Singh and his friend Munendra Singh, who worked in the Home Ministry of the Government of India, were shot dead in Web City, Ghaziabad. Both were shot with 10 bullets each. When the police investigated, they found out that the perpetrators of this murder were Billu Dujana and Rakesh Dujana. Both were searched and on May 29, 2022, two police teams in Ghaziabad killed Billu Dujana, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, and Rakesh Dujana, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000, in two separate encounters in the same night.
Billu Dujana, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was killed in an encounter in Madhuban Bapudham area of Ghaziabad by IPS Deeksha Sharma, who was the SP Crime of Ghaziabad at that time, and her team. The second encounter was done by the police in Indirapuram. Both the miscreants fired several rounds at the police in which one bullet hit the bullet proof jacket of Deputy SP Swatantra Singh and two policemen were injured.
Joined Anil Dujana’s gang at the age of 18.
Billu, a resident of the same village as gangster Anil Dujana, was a sharp shooter and a hired killer. At the age of 18, Billu Dujana joined Anil Dujana’s gang. Billu’s ambition was so big that he wanted to become a bigger criminal and mafia than his own gang leader Anil Dujana. In the year 2015, Billu extorted money from a businessman in the name of Anil Dujana. The entire amount of this extortion amount worth crores was received but he kept 30 percent of the extortion amount for himself. When Anil came to know about it, he slapped Billu Dujana in front of other gang members and from then on, Billu Dujana’s distance from Anil Dujana also increased.
Billu was arrested thrice even before he was killed in the Dujana encounter, but after being released from jail in October 2021, he was continuously committing murder, robbery and extortion in Delhi and Ghaziabad areas. In this sequence, on April 20, 2022, Billu and Rakesh Dujana gunned down Jitendra Singh and his associate Munendra Singh on suspicion of being informers. Billu suspected that Jitendra Singh had a hand in his brother’s murder 5 years ago and it was because of his informant that his brother was murdered.
Rakesh Dujana used to supply weapons to other gangs
On the other hand, Rakesh Dujana was also a sharp shooter and close to Anil Dujana. By joining the Dujana gang at the age of 15, Rakesh extorted ransom and carried out many major incidents. Along with committing crimes, Rakesh also supplied weapons to many other gangs in Delhi, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. The names of Billu Dujana and Rakesh had come up in the murder of Jitendra Singh and his partner on 20 April 2022.
When their encounter took place on May 29, 2022, there was a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Billu Dujana and Rs 50,000 on Rakesh. 52 cases of murder, robbery and dacoity were registered against both of them. The police officer who killed these two miscreants, IPS Deeksha Sharma, is on the post of SP Hamirpur. Swatantra Kumar Singh is posted as ACP in Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate.
