Were going from Bihar to Goa through Google Map, had to spend the night in dense forest due to wrong route – Family Stranded in Forest Overnight After Following Google Maps in Belagavi lclk
After the death of three people in a car traveling with the help of Google Maps in Bareilly, UP, now due to the mistake of Google Maps, two people had to spend the whole night in a dense and dangerous forest. In Belagavi district of Karnataka, two people traveling through Google Maps got information about the wrong route, after which they got stuck in the forest.
The family was going from Bihar to Goa.
In fact, relying on Google Maps in Bhimgarh forest area in Khanapur proved costly for a family. For this family going from Bihar to Goa, the navigation app suggested a shorter route through the forest near Shiroli and Hemmadaga. Unknowingly the family went 7-8 kilometers deep into the forest and remained stuck there the whole night.
Due to lack of mobile network in this dense forest, the family became completely helpless. He made several attempts to get out, but was unsuccessful. After this he was left with no option but to spend the night in his car.
Found network after walking 4 kilometers
The next morning, the family walked about 4 kilometers to find a place where the network was available. On getting the network, he immediately contacted the emergency helpline 112. As soon as the information was received, the local police came into action and took them out of the forest safely.
Police also said that using these forest paths is dangerous for normal vehicles and people often get into such problems due to the shortcuts given on Google Maps.
This incident has proved that blindly trusting digital navigation apps can be risky. Police have advised people to be cautious and ask local people before going on unknown routes.
